Most horse racing enthusiasts will probably be familiar with Frank Lyons, TVG’s charismatic horseracing analyst and handicapper.

There are many factors that Frank Lyons takes into consideration when predicting the outcome of a race, not the least of which is the horses’ individual characteristics and performance. A horse’s speed rating, and the distances it has run are also considered.

Another important factor is the horse’s performance history and how well it has performed in the different tracks. Horses may perform differently under varying conditions, and depending on the type of track and its current state, it may affect how well a horse will run a race.

Well known for his witty commentary and analysis, Frank Lyons was first introduced to horse racing during his childhood in Dublin, Ireland. While still in boarding school, he continued to learn more about horse training and attended an eight-month training program at the Irish National Stud.

He eventually moved to the United States, where he soon established his own public stable.
