Wagering on Two Year Olds

Horse Wagering Methods Comments (0)

As the new racing season approaches, many two year old race horses will be beginning their careers. While it is exciting to see a young horse blossom into a champion, it can be very challenging wagering on horses at this point in their careers. This is because it takes several races for a two year old to learn exactly what they are supposed to do on the race track.

Horseracing fans will have to consider many different factors when wagering on young, inexperienced two year olds. When wagering on older horses, most gamblers will look at the horse’s race record and their speed rating; however, a two year old that has never run in a race will not have these statistics to use to place a wager.

One of the factors that fans can use to help them when confidently wagering on a two year old is the horse’s workout times. All two year olds will have an official work in which the time has been recorded. The only downside to using these times when wagering is that in many instances the times are not accurate because the horses are not pushed as hard in their work outs as they would be in a real race.

Another factor that can be used to help people when wagering on two year old horse races is to look at the horse’s pedigree. Many times horses that are sired by champion races horses are more popular when it comes to wagering because they have a greater potential of winning races than a horse that does not have champion bloodlines.

The last thing that people should consider when profitably wagering on two year olds is the horse’s physical condition. A horse that is nervous usually will not perform as well as one that is calm. More wagering information can be found at TVG.com.
